abstract = "The present work aims to analyze changes in the Marinelli glacier
front, located in the Cordillera Darwin Icefield (CDI), over the
past ten years. Images from ASTER and OLI sensors, from Terra and
LANDSAT satellites, were obtained for analysis. To determine
changes in glacier front position, vectors were created using QGIS
software, using the average positioning method. To calculate the
distance between the line of the glacier front each year,
well-spaced and common points were selected. It was possible to
measure changes year to year by estimating the distance between
these lines. The differences between average coordinates of the
glacier front from different sample years presented a significant
loss in mass during the studied period. A 1.64 km retreat was
observed for the study period. The largest loss of total mass was
observed between two consecutive years 2011 and 2012, which had a
retreat rate of 0.286 km. Retreat is evidenced by the melting of
ice due to an increase in the average global temperature and a
reduction in the precipitation of snow.",
